By Belize Live News Staff: San Pedro police went digging through dry leaves on Wednesday morning and struck green.

The Anti Narcotics Unit and K9 Unit launched an operation before sunrise, around 5:50am, and made their way to an abandoned lot on Barracuda Street.

After more than an hour of searching, an officer spotted a plastic wrap tucked beneath small coconut trees and buried under leaves.

Inside: a bag of suspected cannabis weighing in at 402 grams. That is almost a pound.

Nobody was around, so it was logged as found property.

Less than an hour later, the same units raided a home in San Pedrito, seizing two loaded pistols, ammunition, suspected cocaine and more cannabis, and detaining ten people.

Busy morning on the island.
