By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect a change in the weather today as a surge of moisture brings increased cloud cover and scattered showers across the country. The National Meteorological Service of Belize (NMSB) is forecasting a shift away from the recent dry conditions, with the possibility of heavier rainfall in southern regions.
This increase in moisture is expected to bring much-needed relief to some areas, particularly in the south where drier conditions have prevailed. However, the NMSB advises that the showers will be isolated, with some areas experiencing light rain while others remain dry.
This is a typical pattern for this time of year as Belize transitions towards the winter months, often seeing an increase in moisture leading to these kinds of scattered shower events.
Despite the increased cloud cover and showers, temperatures will remain warm across Belize. Coastal regions can expect highs of 83°F (28°C) and lows of 73°F (23°C), while inland areas will be slightly warmer with highs reaching 85°F (29°C). Cooler temperatures are expected in the hills, with highs of 71°F (21°C) and lows of 62°F (17°C).
Marine conditions are forecast to be moderate, with E-NE winds blowing at 5-15 knots and wave heights reaching 4-6 feet. The NMSB advises boaters and those participating in water activities to exercise caution.
Looking ahead, Tuesday is expected to bring a mix of sunshine and clouds with isolated showers. However, the NMSB warns of a potential increase in shower activity on Tuesday night, with the possibility of thunderstorms developing over southern and coastal areas.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed about the latest weather developments by checking the NMSB’s website and social media channels. It’s also advisable to be prepared for changing weather conditions by carrying an umbrella and being mindful of potentially slippery road conditions during periods of rain.
