Shyne Barrow extends congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump

By Belize Live News Staff: Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow has extended his congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump following his victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential election.

Barrow acknowledged the importance of fair and peaceful elections, highlighting the strength of American democracy. In a statement today, Barrow said, “We wish President-elect Trump and the American people well as Belize remains committed to strengthening the strong bilateral relations shared by our Nations for the last 43 years.”

With this statement both the Government of Belize and the Opposition have now offered congratulations to Trump, who secured a majority in the Electoral College after winning the majority vote as well as five of seven critical swing states. The Republican Party’s win ensures a second term for Trump, while Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has conceded the race.

Barrow also congratulated the US Vice President stating “the Opposition and people of Belize offer congratulations to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on her historic and formidable Presidential candidacy”
