By Belize Live News Staff: Students at the University of Belize will soon be building and programming robots rather than just reading about them.
The Ministry of E-Governance handed over a VEX V5 Classroom Super Robotics Kit to the university on Tuesday, August 18. The equipment goes to the Jaguar Tech Studio, the university’s initiative for robotics and technology learning.
The kit is not a small piece of equipment. It contains more than 1,500 components, including a Robot Brain, a controller, smart motors, sensors, a rechargeable battery and charger, and a full range of structural and mechanical parts.
That means students can design, build, program, test and refine actual robotic systems.
The Ministry described the donation as part of its wider push under the National Digital Agenda, arguing that skills in programming, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence will matter more as technology reshapes work.
More kits are coming. The Ministry says it will strategically donate additional robotics kits to other organisations and educational institutions across Belize.
Should robotics be taught in every secondary school here?
