By Belize Live News Staff: An invisible licence plate is what started it.
Police on mobile patrol along Aurora Street in Orange Walk Town around 5am Friday spotted a blue motorcycle with no visible plate and pulled it over.
The rider said his driver’s licence was at his shop at the market. Officers then checked the cycle itself and found no licence sticker and no insurance disc. Same answer, he said, both were at the shop.
So they escorted him and the motorcycle to the Orange Walk Town Market to see for themselves.
Inside the shop, the story changed. He told officers the cycle was not licensed and not insured, and that his driver’s licence had already expired.
He was arrested on the spot, cautioned, and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station. The motorcycle was impounded.
Rajerr Jovi Garcia, 23, a call agent of Yo Creek Village, was charged with three offences and granted police bail. He is due at the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on August 31.
Asked if he had anything to say to the charges, he said no.
How many uninsured cycles are on the road right now?
