Thief slips into unfenced yard, rides off with beach cruiser

By Belize Live News Staff: He went to sleep with a bicycle in the yard. He woke up with a space where it used to be.

The Belize Police Department reports that a Trial Farm area man made his report at the Trial Farm Police Station on Monday, July 27, 2026, recounting a theft that unfolded while he slept. At about 12:05 a.m., according to his report, a man entered his unfenced yard and made off with his Hurricane brand beach cruiser, a bicycle that cost him $125.

Police have his statement, and the investigation is underway with no arrests so far.

If the story feels familiar, it should. The district’s bicycle ledger keeps filling, a Skyline snatched from the bus terminal, a purple Hurricane cruiser wheeled from a Guinea Grass doorstep, and now another Hurricane gone from a Trial Farm yard, the brand apparently as popular with thieves as with riders.

The pattern preaches its own sermon: in the north these nights, a bicycle left in the open is an invitation, and the unfenced yard answers for it by morning. A chain, a lock, a spot indoors, cheap insurance against a $125 loss and a police report.

Anyone who knows where this beach cruiser rode off to can contact the Trial Farm police. Somebody in the village is pedalling the evidence.
