By Belize Live News Staff: A routine police patrol in Santa Cruz Village ended with three traffic charges against a 54 year old man.
Police say officers stopped a red Lifan motorcycle on Saturday evening after noticing a female passenger who was not wearing a helmet.
When officers checked the motorcycle documents, they reportedly found that the insurance had expired since January 2025 and that the motorcycle licence had expired since December 2024.
Police also say the rider’s driver’s licence did not authorize him to operate that class of vehicle.
The motorcycle was impounded and the rider was taken to the Santa Cruz Police Station.
Police identified him as Edward Walter King of Santa Cruz Village.
He was subsequently charged with using an unlicensed motor vehicle, using an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without the appropriate licence class.
King was granted police bail of $500 pending his court appearance.
