By Belize Live News Staff: A 35 year old woman has reported to Independence Police that she was allegedly choked and pushed into a dresser during a domestic dispute on Saturday night.
Police say the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. inside the woman’s home.
According to the report, a verbal disagreement developed between the woman and a 44 year old man.
The woman alleged that the man approached her, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against a dresser, causing pain to her neck and back.
She told investigators that he then walked away before allegedly returning and choking her a second time and again pushing her against the furniture.
The woman said she became fearful for her life.
After the man left the bedroom, she reportedly locked herself inside and contacted police for assistance.
She was later examined by a doctor, who classified her injuries as harm.
Police have identified a person of interest and are investigating the complaint.
