By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Defence Force’s top leadership gathered on Friday to take stock of where the Force stands and where it is headed.
The annual Senior Officers’ Conference, held at the Biltmore Plaza Hotel, gives senior commanders a chance to discuss current defence matters, review the Force’s priorities and assess plans to strengthen its development and operational effectiveness.
This year’s conference also marked an early engagement for Minister of National Security Michel Chebat, who attended alongside BDF Commander Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez and Ministry CEO Major (Retired) Francis Usher. Foreign military partners were also present.
The meeting comes at a significant time for Belize’s security forces, with heightened tensions involving Guatemala, including a confirmed airspace incursion and reported Guatemalan military activity near the Sarstoon.
The BDF says it remains committed to serving the people and nation of Belize with honour, discipline and dedication.
