Police de-escalate family property standoff in Guinea Grass Village

By Belize Live News Staff: Peace was restored in Guinea Grass on Friday afternoon after a domestic dispute involving a father and daughter prompted a call for police assistance.

The incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when a local woman sought help from the police, reporting that her father had arrived at her mother’s residence and was attempting to force his way inside.

The complainant explained to officers that her parents have been separated for approximately 15 years. While her mother is currently away working in San Pedro, the daughter was left in charge of the family home. She told police that her father does not live at the property and she did not grant him permission to enter.

Responding officers later located the man at his own residence within the village. He was “strongly advised” by police regarding his actions and the legal boundaries surrounding the property.

Following the sit-down with authorities, the man reportedly agreed to stay away from the residence. He further committed to communicating with his former partner through his other daughters to avoid any future confrontations. Police confirmed that the situation ended calmly and no charges were filed.
