Corozal residents charged after officers seize 25 grams of cannabis

By Belize Live News Staff: Members of the Quick Response Team carried out a pre-dawn drug search at a residence on 4th Avenue in Corozal Town, resulting in three arrests. According to police, the operation took place at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, during a warrant-led search for illegal drugs.

Inside the residence were Alexander Obando (19), Osiel Oliva (24), and Yara Oliva (41). Officers questioned the trio about illegal items, but all denied possession. However, during a sweep of the home, PC Koyoc located a glass jar containing suspected cannabis in one of the bedrooms.

The three individuals were immediately detained, cautioned, and advised of their constitutional rights before being transported to the police station. There, the suspected drugs were weighed at 25.4 grams, properly sealed in a labeled evidence envelope, and handed over to the exhibit keeper.

Later that day, police formally charged all three individuals with Possession of Controlled Drugs. After being cautioned, each chose to remain silent.
