Big changes in Belmopan: PM reveals bold new Cabinet lineup!

By Belize Live News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño has unveiled a restructuring of his Cabinet, marking one of the most notable administrative realignments of the current administration. According to the official press release issued on November 18, 2025, the Prime Minister reassigned portfolios and reinforced several ministries with new Ministers of State.

The Prime Minister himself now leads an expanded super-ministry covering Finance, Investment and Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation, and E-Governance, supported by Senior Minister of State Dolores Balderamos Garcia and Minister of State Osmond Martinez.

Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde remains responsible for Natural Resources, Petroleum & Mining, while Francis Fonseca continues overseeing a large combined ministry covering Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science & Technology, assisted by Marconi Leal Jr. and Ramon Cervantes.

Other notable portfolios include Agriculture, Food Security & New Growth Industries under Rodwell Ferguson, while Julius Espat continues to lead Infrastructure Development & Housing. The reshuffle also confirmed Kareem Musa as Minister of Immigration, Labour & Governance, and Anthony Mahler retains Tourism, Youth, Sports & Diaspora Relations, supported by Devin Daly.

In environmental governance, Orlando Habet remains at the helm of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Solid Waste Management, with Ramiro Ramirez as Minister of State. Meanwhile, Michel Chebat oversees Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics with support from Gilroy Usher.

The updated lineup also includes leadership for Health & Wellness, Home Affairs, Marine Conservation, Rural Transformation, Indigenous Affairs, National Defence, and Human Development.

The release concludes with the announcement that Ambassador Stuart Leslie will serve as Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff, cementing the administrative adjustments aimed at streamlining governance heading into the new year.
