By Belize Live News Staff: A total of thirty-five transport enforcement officers from across Belize have begun an intensive three-week training program aimed at improving the country’s traffic law enforcement and overall road safety.
The training is a joint effort between the Ministry of Transportation and the Belize Police Department (BPD), designed to provide officers with a deeper understanding of national traffic laws, effective enforcement procedures, and field tactics.
Officers are being accommodated at the BPD’s National Police Training Academy, where they will participate in both theoretical and hands-on sessions led by experienced instructors from both agencies.
According to officials, the goal of the program is to standardize enforcement practices, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and ensure that officers are better prepared to respond to the growing challenges on Belize’s roads.
The Ministry of Transportation says that once this initial cohort completes the course, two additional groups of officers will be trained under the same program, expanding its reach nationwide.
