By Belize Live News Staff: There were two familiar faces waiting for Prime Minister John Briceño at his official welcome in Honduras.
Cadets Fernando Valladarez and Perfecto Aldana are currently studying at the Honduran Military Academy, and both met the Prime Minister during the military reception that opened his official visit.
For a country the size of Belize, sending officers abroad for professional military education is how the Belize Defence Force builds depth. Training alongside cadets from other nations exposes young officers to different approaches to command, logistics and operations, and those lessons come home with them.
Honduras has one of the region’s established military academies, and the placements point to a defence relationship that is expanding beyond the ceremonial.
The Prime Minister is in Honduras for talks with President Nasry Asfura on strengthening bilateral relations.
