Massive support pours in for Gamboa’s back-to-school bag drive

By Belize Live News Staff: The community continues to rally behind Mr. Gamboa’s annual bag drive, with contributions now totaling more than $51,000 in goods and an additional $40,000 worth of school supplies matched by suppliers.

Among the major donors, Aquity BPO provided $16,500 worth of goods purchased directly from Angelus Press, while Mr. John Sobie Gillett Jr. and Santi Castillo donated $13,000 worth of school supplies. Mr. Rommel Berges from RJB Construction also contributed a significant $10,000, which was further matched by A&R, bringing the total from that source to about $13,000.

Other donors include Belize Mega Bingo and the Shackron family, who gave over $3,000 worth of goods, and Mr. Ramon Reyes of Tropical Paradise Hotel & Restaurant in Caye Caulker, who contributed $2,500 to provide 50 Samsonite bags and additional supplies. Tropic Air has stepped in to ship the donations to Caye Caulker free of charge.

Additionally, contributions were received from Feliz Reyes, Julissa Zabaneh, Berto Riverol, and Ashton Longsworth, all of which were used to purchase more supplies for children.

The overwhelming generosity has exceeded expectations, with thousands of school supplies now ready for distribution. Mr. Gamboa has pledged to ensure the goods are shared fairly across communities despite the logistical challenges, asking for patience as he continues to operate the initiative with the limited resources he has.
