By Belize Live News Staff: A moist and unstable atmosphere continues to dominate Belize’s weather this morning, bringing showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain across the country, particularly affecting the central and northern regions. However, according to forecaster Ronald Gordon, a gradual decrease in activity is anticipated later in the day.
Today’s conditions will be marked by cloudy skies with sunny intervals. While the morning may bring bursts of rain and thunder, the afternoon should see drier weather in most areas. Tonight will be partly cloudy with only isolated showers and thunderstorms, aside from the southern districts, where a few more showers could develop.
A weather alert remains in place for Excessive Rainfall, with portions of the Toledo and Stann Creek districts having received nearly four inches of rain over the past day and a half. Forecasts project up to 2 to 3 more inches of rain over these districts and others like Belize and Orange Walk within the next six hours. Residents are strongly encouraged to stay updated on flood warnings and avoid flood-prone zones.
Coastal waters remain under caution as a Small Craft Advisory is active. East winds are blowing at 10 to 20 knots, with waves between 4 and 7 feet, becoming locally rough in the vicinity of thunderstorms.
The tropical weather outlook remains quiet, with no signs of cyclone development in the next 48 hours over the Atlantic basin.
Looking ahead to Sunday, isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue, becoming even more isolated by nightfall, except in the far south, where some additional activity is likely to persist.
