By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service has issued an updated forecast as a weak tropical wave moves across the country today, disrupting the relatively dry conditions seen in previous days. The system is pushing increased moisture across the region, resulting in cloudy conditions, scattered showers, and a few isolated thunderstorms, particularly along the coast.
As the evening approaches, rainfall is expected to intensify over southern coastal areas, potentially leading to some localized flooding in low-lying communities. However, forecasters confirm that no tropical cyclone development is expected within the next two days.
East winds of 10 to 20 knots are pushing waves up to six feet high, making for moderate sea conditions. Boaters and swimmers are advised to exercise caution, especially in areas where thunderstorms are forming.
Temperatures are hovering in the low 90s inland and upper 80s along the coast, with slightly cooler readings in the hills. While today’s weather may not be ideal for outdoor plans, the rainfall offers a welcome break from the heat and serves as a reminder of the ongoing Atlantic hurricane season.
The outlook heading into Saturday shows more scattered showers and thunderstorms affecting southern Belize and parts of the coast. Belizeans are reminded to stay weather-aware and prepare accordingly during this active weather pattern.
