By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Film Commission, in partnership with multiple government ministries, officially launched the Belize Film Xchange Workshop Series on June 23, 2025, at the ITVET Campus on Freetown Road.
The launch drew support from top government officials, including Francis Fonseca and Kareem Musa, who underscored the role of film in Belize’s growing orange economy. Film Commissioner Carlo Habet also addressed attendees, highlighting the government’s commitment to building a vibrant, sustainable film industry that empowers Belizean creatives.
Over 30 participants from across the country are enrolled in the five-day workshop, covering essential areas like screenwriting, cinematography, sound design, and post-production. The program includes training from both local and international facilitators and leads to ITVET certification.
Organizers describe the series as a “historic step” toward structuring Belize’s film industry, promoting both cultural expression and job creation.
The Belize Film Xchange Workshop is made possible through support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration; Ministry of Education, Science & Technology; and the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries.
