By Belize Live News Staff: The shadow UDP Cabinet has put a spotlight on the struggles facing teachers, farmers, and the nation’s youth, blaming government inaction for worsening conditions across the board. Following a weekly meeting on January 21, the shadow UDP Cabinet members pledged to prioritize these critical areas.
Teachers are leaving the profession in alarming numbers, citing burnout, lack of support, and poor working conditions. Meanwhile, farmers in northern Belize have accused the Ministry of Agriculture of creating monopolies, leading to rising costs on essential goods. In a scathing critique, the shadow UDP Cabinet also noted the collapse of youth-focused initiatives, with the Department of Youth operating without a director and minimal funding.
The opposition reiterated its commitment to advocating for structural reforms and greater accountability.
