By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect a mix of weather today as slightly moist north to northeasterly winds influence conditions across the country. According to the Belize Meteorological Service, coastal areas will experience a few showers and isolated thunderstorms this morning. These showers are expected to intensify and spread inland by the afternoon. Tonight, southern areas will see the majority of the rainfall and thunderstorm activity.
Marine conditions are manageable but should be approached with caution. Winds will blow from the north-northeast at 5-15 knots, creating a sea state ranging from light chop to choppy. Wave heights are predicted to be between 2 and 5 feet, particularly in exposed areas.
Temperatures will remain seasonally warm. Coastal areas are forecast to reach highs of 83°F (28°C) and dip to 76°F (24°C) overnight. Inland regions will be slightly warmer, with daytime highs of 84°F (29°C) and lows of 68°F (20°C). In the hills, temperatures will peak at 76°F (24°C) and fall to 64°F (18°C) at night.
The forecast for Tuesday indicates a continuation of this unsettled weather pattern. Coastal and northern regions will see morning showers and thunderstorms, which will diminish by the afternoon. However, showers are expected to redevelop over most parts of the country by Tuesday night.
Tidal activity includes a low tide at 8:24 AM, a high tide at 2:13 PM, and another low tide at 9:27 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is expected at 2:53 AM. Sunrise occurred at 6:26 AM, and sunset is scheduled for 5:41 PM. The moon will set at 10:45 AM and rise again at 11:32 PM tonight.
Forecaster Michelle Augustine advises residents, especially in southern and coastal areas, to stay prepared for changing weather conditions. While the morning may offer some calm, rain and thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor plans later in the day.
