By Belize Live News Staff: As Belize heads into an election year, political momentum is building, even as the official date for general elections remains unannounced. Leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow, has confidently declared that the United Democratic Party (UDP) is prepared to contest and is ready to engage the electorate across all constituencies.
Speaking to the media, Barrow emphasized the UDP’s readiness, highlighting the party’s organizational strength and commitment to its national campaign strategy. “We are ready to take our message to the people,” Barrow said, outlining plans for a robust campaign aimed at addressing the concerns of Belizeans and presenting the UDP’s vision for the country.
Barrow also disclosed that the UDP had explored the possibility of a coalition with the Alliance for Democracy (ADP) to bolster opposition unity. However, he expressed disappointment with recent actions by ADP’s leadership, particularly those of Tracy Taegar-Panton, which he believes reflect a lack of interest in collaboration or mediation. “Their actions have made it clear that they are not willing to engage in the partnership we had proposed,” Barrow stated.
Despite this, Barrow reaffirmed the UDP’s determination to forge ahead independently. The party’s national campaign will focus on engaging voters in all constituencies, promoting its platform, and addressing key issues such as economic recovery, crime reduction, and job creation.
With political parties already mobilizing and the nation awaiting the official announcement of the election date, the stage is set for an intense electoral battle. For the UDP, Shyne Barrow’s declaration of readiness marks the beginning of a critical campaign season.
