By Belize Live News Staff: RCCBpo is persevering in the wake of an unimaginable tragedy—the loss of seven workers and the child of one employee in a devastating crash on the George Price Highway two weekends ago. Despite the heartache, the company moved forward with its planned Christmas party yesterday, albeit with heavy hearts and lingering misgivings.
To honor their lost colleagues and bring a moment of healing, the event featured American country rock band Jet Black Roses from Nashville, Tennessee, by way of Atlanta, Georgia. The band, a trio, accepted the invitation to perform at the request of RCCBpo Managing Director David Long.
The band’s lead singer shared how deeply moved he was after learning about the victims’ obituaries. Having witnessed the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene in his home state of North Carolina, he found a connection with the pain and resilience of those affected in Belize.
Inspired by his own experiences, the group wrote “Carolina Blue,” a single dedicated to hurricane victims and recovery efforts. They now hope to finalize another special track, provisionally titled “Forever Loved,” in tribute to the workers lost and the loved ones they left behind. Proceeds from “Carolina Blue” will go to hurricane victims, while “Forever Loved” will honor the fallen and support their families.
Jet Black Roses describes their music as a fusion of country, rock, rhythm and blues, and even rap—a “rock and roll with a country soul” that blends the essence of two iconic American music cities. The group’s bassist and secondary vocalist noted their aim to create music that resonates across borders and genres.
For those wanting to hear their music, Jet Black Roses’ work can be found online at their official website and YouTube channel. The Christmas party, while bittersweet, served as a moment of solace and unity for RCCBpo and its community as they continue to grieve and heal.
