By Belize Live News Staff: While Altun Ha, Lamanai, Santa Rita, and Cerro Maya remain open for exploration, the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve is temporarily closed due to high river levels, the Institute of Archaeology (NICH) Belize announced today. The decision was made as a precaution to prevent potential risks to visitors.
Additionally, tour activities at Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), Barton Creek, and the Nohoch Che’en Caves are still suspended as river conditions remain hazardous. The public is advised to monitor updates from the Institute, which is working diligently to ensure the safety of both tourists and locals.
For those planning to visit Belize’s archaeological sites, it is recommended to check for real-time updates before traveling to these destinations.
