By Belize Live News Staff: The Alliance for Democracy (AFD) held its national convention today at the Civic Center in Belize City, with significant support from party delegates. Albert area representative Tracey Taegar-Panton was confirmed as interim leader after a majority vote.
Taegar-Panton expressed gratitude for the strong turnout and highlighted the movement’s commitment to following party rules in seeking leadership change. She dismissed any concerns about the convention’s support, emphasizing her confidence in the delegates’ desire for reform.
The AFD announced its proposed executive team, including Hugo Patt as first Deputy Leader and Beverly Williams as second Deputy Leader. Despite some internal disputes, Taegar-Panton’s leadership has been endorsed by 368 delegates who moved a motion to confirm her position.
This convention marks a significant moment for the AFD as it navigates internal discussions and future directions.
