17-year-old motorcyclist killed in collision with pickup truck on Southern Highway

By Belize Live News Staff: Residents of Pomona Village are reeling after the tragic death of 17-year-old Cristin Guerra, who was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on the Southern Highway on Sunday night. Guerra, a newly licensed rider, was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup while riding his Skygo motorcycle at around 9:00 PM.

According to police reports, the incident took place between miles 2 and 3 on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway. The Dodge Ram, driven by Ezechias Vasquez, was traveling in the opposite direction of Guerra’s motorcycle. Upon impact, Guerra was thrown off his bike, suffering severe injuries.

Police officers arrived at the scene to find Guerra’s motorcycle extensively damaged. Despite being rushed for medical treatment, the young teen succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. The driver of the pickup truck, Vasquez, has been taken into custody and is facing charges pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

ACP Hilberto Romero, from the OC Eastern Division, confirmed that the police are still investigating the accident, noting that the offices were closed over the long holiday weekend, which had delayed initial procedures.
