NOHOCH CHE’EN closes water tours due to rising rivers, other sites open

By Belize Live News Staff: As a result of heightened river levels due to ongoing weather conditions, all water-related tour activities at the NOHOCH CHE’EN Archaeological Reserve have been suspended until further notice. The Institute of Archaeology has taken this measure to safeguard visitors and staff from potential hazards caused by the elevated water levels. Visitors planning to tour the area are advised to adjust their plans accordingly.

Despite the closure of water activities at NOHOCH CHE’EN, all other archaeological reserves throughout Belize remain open and operational. The Institute of Archaeology has urged tour guides to stay on high alert and follow all safety protocols, given the unpredictable nature of the current weather conditions. Visitors are advised to check with authorities and tour operators before embarking on any tours to ensure safety.

The Institute of Archaeology is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as needed. Tour operators and visitors are encouraged to remain cautious and avoid any unnecessary risks.
