Belize Weather: Tropical downpour expected after sunny start to Thursday

Belize set for a day of fair skies and breezy conditions

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are waking up to a beautiful sunny morning on Thursday, but that won’t last long as a tropical wave moves closer, threatening to drench the country with rain and thunderstorms later today.

The National Meteorological Service (NMS) has forecasted a sunny start to the day, with increasing cloud cover expected as the day progresses. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, intensifying and spreading across the country tonight and into Friday.

The NMS warns that most areas of the country will be affected by showers and thunderstorms on Friday and Friday night.

Coastal areas, while currently enjoying temperatures around 91°F and calm seas, are advised to prepare for worsening conditions as the tropical wave approaches. Inland areas could see temperatures climb as high as 96°F before the rain arrives.

The tropical wave is not anticipated to develop into a cyclone within the next 48 hours, but residents are urged to be cautious and ready for the potential impact of heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding.

Belize Live News will continue to provide updates as the situation develops. Stay tuned for the latest information on the incoming tropical wave and its effects on the country.
