By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are advised to prepare for the possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms today and into the weekend, as Tropical Depression Four continues to churn in the Caribbean Sea. While the depression is not expected to make direct landfall in Belize, its outer bands could bring localized downpours and gusty winds to the region.
According to the latest forecast from the National Meteorological Service, sunny skies will give way to cloudy spells throughout the day, with a few showers and thunderstorms expected to develop, particularly inland. Coastal areas may also experience some showers, especially late Sunday night.
Temperatures will vary across the country, with the hottest conditions expected inland, reaching highs of 94°F (34°C). Coastal and hilly regions will see slightly milder temperatures.
Boaters and seafarers are urged to exercise caution, as the seas are expected to be choppy, with waves reaching up to 4 feet. The National Meteorological Service will continue to monitor Tropical Depression Four closely and provide updates as necessary.
While Belize is no stranger to tropical weather, residents are reminded to take precautions, such as securing loose objects, stocking up on supplies, and having a plan in place in case of severe weather. Stay tuned to local news and weather reports for the latest information.
