Belize reopens seaports after all clear declaration

By Belize Live News Staff: The Ports Commissioner of Belize announced today the lifting of the port closure order that was put in place on July 1st, 2024, due to recent weather events. All seaports are now operational as of 8:00 AM on Friday, July 5th, 2024, and normal activities have resumed across the country. Water taxis are also permitted to resume their regular operations as outlined in their approved permits.

The decision to reopen the ports comes after the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) issued an “All Clear” for Belize, indicating that the threat of severe weather has passed.

The Ports Commissioner expressed gratitude to the public and stakeholders for their patience and adherence to safety protocols during the closure period, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring the preparedness and safety of maritime facilities.
