By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are waking up to sunny skies this morning, but the National Meteorological Service (NMS) warns of potential showers and thunderstorms, particularly in central inland areas. As residents enjoy the sunshine, all eyes are on the Caribbean Sea, where two significant weather systems are developing.
Hurricane Beryl, now a dangerous Category 3 hurricane, is churning in the Atlantic with sustained winds of 115 mph. The storm is currently on a westward trajectory, posing a significant threat to the Windward Islands. The NMS continues to monitor Beryl closely, urging Belizeans to stay informed and prepared.
Closer to home, a broad area of low pressure near Belize has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression over the Bay of Campeche. While the exact track and intensity of this potential storm are still uncertain, the NMS advises residents to remain vigilant and have their hurricane preparedness plans in place.
Despite the looming tropical threats, Belizeans can expect sunny skies with cloudy intervals today. However, the NMS forecasts a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in central inland areas. Temperatures will range from the mid-80s along the coast to the low 90s inland.
Belize Live News will continue to provide updates on both Hurricane Beryl and the potential tropical storm near Belize. We urge all residents to stay informed through official channels, have their emergency kits ready, and review their family’s hurricane preparedness plan.
