More showers and thunderstorms expected as Belize’s wet weather continues

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are advised to prepare for more rain as moist and unstable conditions remain prevalent across the country. The National Meteorological Service of Belize has forecast a mix of sunny skies and cloudy intervals for today but warns of increasing shower and thunderstorm activity.

Isolated showers are expected throughout the day, with the possibility of a few thunderstorms developing in the extreme north. As the day progresses, shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase, particularly over northern and coastal regions, extending into tomorrow morning.

Marine conditions will remain choppy, with east to southeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots. Waves are forecast to reach 3-5 feet. Temperatures along the coast will hover around 90°F (31°C), while inland areas will experience slightly higher temperatures.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Sunday night, cloudy skies will dominate, with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms, mainly affecting northern and coastal areas. The intensity of the showers is expected to gradually decrease during Sunday night.

Residents are urged to stay informed about the latest weather developments and to exercise caution when traveling, especially in areas prone to flooding. Be sure to secure loose objects outdoors and take necessary precautions to protect your property.
