By Belize Live News Staff: Beloved developer and community figure, Mark Christopher Leonard, known affectionately as “Mr. Sweet Heat,” passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, at the age of 70. He was in the arms of his loving wife, Elvina Leonard.
Mark was a devoted husband, dedicated father, visionary businessman, and kind-hearted friend to many. He spent his life embracing adventure—racing boats, fishing across the globe, and relaxing by the sea in Chetumal Bay.
Best known for founding the thriving community of Cerros Sands in Corozal, Belize, Mark turned a bold vision into reality and ensured his legacy will continue. He will be remembered for his humor, his love of Belize, and his generosity.
He now takes his final journey over calm waters. Rest in peace, Mr. Sweet Heat.
