Belize implements new operating hours at Western Border to streamline trade and travel

By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration has officially announced new operating hours for the Western Border Station with Guatemala, now in effect as of April 4, 2025. The update comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve trade efficiency and support the smooth movement of people and goods between Belize and its western neighbor.

Under the new schedule, cargo processing will now be conducted Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cargo operations will remain closed on Sundays and public holidays.

For passengers and non-cargo vehicles, the border will be open daily from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., providing extended access for commuters and cross-border travelers.

Additionally, pre-processed cargo parking, handled by SAT Guatemala, will be available Monday to Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A fee of BZ$80 per unit per night will apply, depending on space availability.

The Ministry is calling on importers, exporters, transport companies, and travelers to familiarize themselves with the new schedule and make the necessary adjustments to avoid delays.
