John Saldivar declares full support for Tracy Panton amid political tensions

John Saldivar withdraws from UDP caretaker race, throws support behind Louise Willis

By Belize Live News Staff: Former Belmopan Area Representative John Saldivar has issued a strong public endorsement of Tracy Panton, pushing back against what he describes as deliberate attempts to undermine her leadership and create division between them. In a passionate social media post, Saldivar made his stance unmistakable: “I AM WITH HER… FULL STOP, PERIOD.”

Saldivar suggested that individuals are actively trying to drive a wedge between himself and Panton, but emphasized that such efforts are doomed to fail. He reflected on what he calls a personal political misstep—backing another candidate over Panton during a previous leadership contest—and expressed that he has spent the past year trying to make things right.

“Some may even say that I did so at my own peril,” Saldivar wrote, referencing his back-to-back electoral losses and hinting that his time in politics may be nearing its end. However, he stressed that his actions were done for his team and for Panton, who he described as someone who has made significant personal sacrifices for her vision and leadership.

Saldivar also took aim at the Belize Broadcasting Network (BBN), accusing the media outlet of operating at the behest of those willing to pay for favorable coverage or smear campaigns. “It is obvious that anyone can pay BBN to publish any crap,” he said, before warning of a “madman” relentlessly trying to derail Panton’s progress.

Defending his integrity and education, Saldivar stated, “I actually went to school, attended school, and earned a degree. I did not walk past the school compound to collect a degree.”
Reaffirming his support, Saldivar said his friendship with Panton would withstand these attacks, and praised her strength and leadership. He closed his post with a bold prediction: “Long live Hon. Tracy Panton who is destined to be Belize’s first female Prime Minister.”
