Tracy Panton charts path forward after UDP’s election defeat

Tracy Taegar Panton calls for peaceful UDP caretaker conventions

By Belize Live News Staff: With the United Democratic Party (UDP) still reeling from its worst loss in last month’s general elections, newly confirmed leader Tracy Panton is moving swiftly to stabilize and reorganize the party. She has called a National Party Council (NPC) meeting for Saturday, aiming to bring key members together and set a united course forward.

Despite a legal challenge from former party leader Shyne Barrow, who continues to question the legitimacy of the October 20th convention, Panton is staying focused on inclusion and dialogue. “It’s very important for the National Party Council to meet, for the family, the UDP wider family to meet, so we can bring them up to speed,” she said.

Panton made it clear that her leadership will be rooted in consultation, not control. “I am not a dictator. There is no dictatorship in my leadership,” she added.

The upcoming NPC meeting is expected to be a turning point for the UDP as it looks to rebuild public confidence and reestablish its political footing. Belize Live News will continue to monitor this story and provide timely updates to our readers.
