By Belize Live News Staff: Sergeant Albert Coc has spent years making the case for the Crown in Belize’s courts as a Police Prosecutor. Now he is on his way to becoming a fully qualified attorney.
Sgt Coc has graduated from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, with a Bachelor of Laws degree and Upper Second Class Honours. He is now continuing his studies at the Norman Manley Law School, where he will complete the final two years of training required to practise law.
The Belize Police Department congratulated him on the milestone, calling it a testament to his hard work and commitment.
The achievement comes at a time when the department is under heavy public scrutiny, with questions being raised about accountability, detentions and respect for the law. Officers with legal training can play an important role in strengthening prosecutions and ensuring police work stands up in court.
The department says it eagerly awaits Sgt Coc’s return and believes his expertise will benefit both the force and the country.
Congratulations, Sergeant Coc.
