Belize Fund awards BZD 1.1 million to environmental trailblazers

By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future (BFSF) held an award ceremony honoring eight exceptional recipients who are leading the charge in biodiversity protection and sustainability. The event, held on Thursday, showcased the nation’s commitment to nurturing a more resilient and eco-conscious future.

A total of BZD 1.1 million was distributed among the awardees, whose groundbreaking projects include mangrove restoration, sustainable seaweed farming, and plastic pollution prevention. These initiatives are set to not only benefit their local communities but also safeguard Belize’s unique ecosystems for generations to come.

The BFSF, a key driver in the country’s climate action agenda, praised the awardees as “trailblazers who are creating impactful change through science, innovation, and community action.”

This move aligns with Belize’s broader efforts to balance development with sustainability and affirms the government’s support for grassroots solutions that tackle climate and environmental challenges head-on.
