By Belize Live News Staff: The Prime Minister, John Briceño, has confirmed the appointment of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) across various government ministries, as per section 107 of the Constitution. These appointments are intended to strengthen the administration’s capacity to implement policies and drive national development. Among the notable reappointments is Joseph Waight, who remains as Financial Secretary, a role he has held for several years, ensuring continuity in Belize’s financial management. Narda Garcia retains her position in the Office of the Prime Minister, overseeing investment and civil aviation, while Paul Thompson has been entrusted with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining.
The list of appointments reflects a blend of experienced officials and fresh leadership, with Carlos Pol taking charge of Economic Transformation and Jose Urbina spearheading E-Governance. H.E. Ambassador Amalia Mai continues to lead Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Culture, reinforcing Belize’s diplomatic and trade policies. Tanya Santos Neal will oversee the Ministry of Immigration, and Servulo Baeza will continue in Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise. Infrastructure Development and Housing will be under Victor Espat, while Sharole Saldivar takes charge of Home Affairs & New Growth Industries.
Tourism, Youth, Sports & Diaspora Relations will be led by Nicole Usher Solano, with Dr. Julio Sabido continuing his leadership in Health & Wellness. Milagro Matus has been appointed to Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Solid Waste Management, while Rolando Zetina will head Public Service, Governance & NEMO. National Defence & Border Security will be under Francis Usher, and Education, Science & Technology under Dian Maheia. Beverly Wade takes the helm of the Blue Economy & Marine Conservation portfolio, while Dr. Valentino Shal is assigned to Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour & Local Government. Human Development, Family Support & Gender Affairs will be led by Adele Catzim.
This lineup of CEOs signals the government’s intent to maintain stability in key areas while introducing leadership aimed at advancing national priorities. The Briceno Administration is expected to move forward with its development agenda, ensuring efficiency and policy execution within each ministry.
