Louis Wade Jr. appointed as new church senator following elections

By Belize Live News Staff: Prominent broadcaster and religious leader Louis Maximo Wade Jr. has been appointed as Belize’s new Church Senator, following the March 12 general elections.

The National Evangelical Association of Belize (NEAB) made the announcement, confirming Wade’s selection through a collaborative decision with the Belize Council of Churches and the Belize Association of Evangelical Churches. The three organizations have traditionally rotated the Church Senator position, ensuring broad representation within the religious community.

Wade, best known for his work as a talk show host and broadcaster with PLUS TV in Belmopan, has received the backing of over 240 pastors nationwide, according to the NEAB. The organization expressed confidence in his ability to serve Belize with wisdom and dedication, bringing his deep-rooted faith and extensive experience into his new role in the Senate.

“We are confident that Louis Wade Jr. will discharge his duties in the Senate with excellence, wisdom, and significant contributions, as he has done throughout his entire career,” the NEAB stated.

The announcement comes in the wake of Belize’s political transition, which saw Prime Minister John Briceño and the People’s United Party (PUP) secure victory in the elections, and Tracy Taegar-Panton appointed as Leader of the Opposition. The NEAB extended prayers and well wishes to the newly elected officials as they take on their national responsibilities.

NEAB President Santie Valencia urged Belizeans to embrace God’s truth in their personal lives and families, expressing hope that Wade’s appointment would help steer the country toward a path of faith, unity, and moral leadership.
