By Belize Live News Staff: Gilroy Usher Jr. is now facing an aggravated assault charge after allegedly trying to run over his sister, Monica Usher, with a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Usher Jr., 44, who was called to the bar in Belize in late 2024, was arraigned today before a Senior Magistrate, where he pleaded not guilty. With no objections to bail, he was granted $2,000 plus one surety of the same amount, under the condition that he avoids contact with his sister and prosecution witnesses and stays at least 25 feet away from her.
During his court appearance, it was revealed that Usher Jr. had an outstanding $50 fine from a 2017 traffic offense, which he was required to settle before securing bail.
After his release, Usher Jr. dismissed the allegations, calling his sister’s claims fabricated and stating that this was merely an ongoing family dispute. “There was an incident, but it’s nothing like what she said,” he remarked.
The feud within the Usher family has been ongoing for some time, and this case is expected to bring further scrutiny as it proceeds in court. Usher Jr. is scheduled to return before the Magistrate’s Court on May 5, 2025.
