The visit, which included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and BELTRAIDE, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting local businesses and enhancing export opportunities.
Marie Sharp’s Fine Foods Ltd. has successfully penetrated major international markets, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Dubai, and the United States. Now, the company aims to expand into South Korea, Canada, and Mexico but faces challenges in production, logistics, and trade costs.
During discussions, company representatives sought government support in reducing import costs, improving supply chain management, and streamlining trade processes. Minister Martinez acknowledged these concerns, pledging to work towards solutions that strengthen Belize’s agricultural exports.
Marie Sharp’s impact extends beyond exports, as the company has helped local pepper farmers grow their businesses through interest-free financing. Additionally, the company is exploring a strategic distribution hub in Panama to expand its reach in the Caribbean and South America.
