By Belize Live News Staff: The unexplained death of a Belizean woman on the rooftop of an Illinois hospital has left her family and community demanding justice. Chelsea Adolphus, 28, was found dead on the roof of Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, hours after she was reported missing from the facility.
Authorities say she succumbed to hypothermia after being exposed to freezing temperatures for over seven hours. The most troubling detail? The door leading to the roof was locked from the outside, raising questions about how she got there in the first place.
Her family, devastated and desperate for answers, has filed a lawsuit against the hospital, alleging negligence, premises liability, and medical malpractice. They claim that Adolphus had sought treatment for a minor issue, yet hospital staff failed to ensure her safety.
“We have more questions than answers,” said a family representative. “We need to see the surveillance footage. We need to hear the 911 calls. We need to know what really happened to Chelsea.”
Despite repeated requests, the hospital has yet to release any security footage or official explanations regarding Adolphus’ disappearance and tragic death.
With legal proceedings underway, the case is now drawing attention beyond Waukegan, as Belizeans at home and abroad express their shock and outrage over the circumstances surrounding Adolphus’ passing.
As the investigation continues, her family vows not to rest until the truth is revealed and justice is served.
