No suspects or cargo found as authorities probe burnt plane in Toledo

By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities in the Toledo District made a troubling discovery early Sunday morning when a burnt drug plane was located on an illicit airstrip near Dolores Village. Acting on reports of a low-flying aircraft, police and Belize Defence Force (BDF) personnel found the remnants of a jet completely destroyed by fire. No cargo or suspects were found at the site.

ACP Hilberto Romero stated, “Police and BDF conducted an operation after receiving reports of a low-flying aircraft. At the site, a jet was discovered completely burnt, with no evidence of cargo. Searches in the surrounding area have so far yielded no results.”

Authorities have not disclosed the source of the tip about the aircraft or the exact timeline of events leading up to its discovery.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in identifying the individuals behind the illicit operation.
