Barton Creek reopens, water tours still suspended at Nohoch Che’en

By Belize Live News Staff: The Barton Creek Archaeological Reserve has reopened to visitors, but water based tours remain on hold at Nohoch Che’en.

In a notice issued at 6:00am on Wednesday, October 21, the Institute of Archaeology of the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) said all water related tour activities at the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve remain suspended.

The Institute also said the ferry at the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve is operating for pedestrian crossing only.

All other archaeological reserves, including Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) and Barton Creek, are open for visits.

Tour operators and guides are advised to exercise caution, especially during water based activities.

The IA/NICH says it continues to monitor conditions and will provide updates as necessary.
