By Belize Live News Staff: Former Minister of National Defence and Border Security Florencio Marin has confirmed that he is no longer receiving a minister’s salary following Prime Minister John Briceño’s recent Cabinet reshuffle.
Marin made the disclosure during an appearance on Love FM’s The Morning Show on Monday, where he also addressed questions about his possible return to Cabinet.
The Corozal Southeast Area Representative was left without a ministerial portfolio after the Prime Minister reorganized the country’s security responsibilities earlier this month.
Under the new arrangement, Michel Chebat was given responsibility for both the armed forces and the Police Department through the Ministry of National Security, Energy and Ports.
Marin previously held the National Defence and Border Security portfolio, which he first assumed in 2020.
Although he is no longer serving as a minister, Marin continues to represent the people of Corozal Southeast in the House of Representatives.
His appearance on Love FM provided an opportunity to discuss his position following the changes and the possibility of a future Cabinet appointment.
No new appointment for Marin has been announced in the information provided.
