BEL says hotter weather driving up electricity usage

By Belize Live News Staff: BEL is attempting to calm public concerns following widespread complaints from customers about rising electricity bills across the country.

In a statement released today, the company attributed the increase primarily to hotter seasonal weather conditions, explaining that homes and businesses are consuming more energy to stay cool during the intense heat.

BEL says cooling appliances naturally consume more electricity during warmer months and suggested that customers adopt energy-saving habits to reduce overall consumption.

The company emphasized that it remains committed to supporting communities and keeping customers’ interests at the forefront. However, the statement has already sparked reactions online from Belizeans who say many families are struggling to keep up with increasing monthly expenses.
