A tragic accident in Indian Creek Village, Orange Walk District has left a family mourning the loss of their one-year-old child.

Police say the incident happened on Monday night in the Mennonite community, where one-year-old Peter Wall was reportedly struck by a vehicle being driven by his father.

According to ASP Stacy Smith, investigators learned that the child’s father had entered his vehicle to leave the residence when he was alerted by his wife that something had happened. Upon exiting the vehicle, he reportedly discovered that the child had been struck and had sustained fatal injuries.

Police say the child later succumbed to those injuries. A file has since been compiled and forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for directives.
