By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities have seized a significant quantity of cannabis following a joint intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m. on March 24, 2026, law enforcement officers carried out coordinated searches in an area located north of San Pedro Town. The operation targeted a seaside mangrove zone, where officers uncovered a large black crocus bag concealed within the vegetation.

Inside the bag, police found twenty-nine black plastic-wrapped rectangular parcels suspected to contain cannabis. The total weight of the confiscated substance amounted to 17.4 kilograms, equivalent to approximately 38.36 pounds.

Following the discovery, the cannabis was properly labeled, sealed, and deposited as found property.

No arrests have been reported in connection with the find at this time, and investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the origin and intended distribution of the drugs.
