By Belize Live News Staff: Belize City has a new City Administrator: Dr. Candice Pitts. The appointment was confirmed just weeks after reports that she was the frontrunner for the post.
Dr. Pitts has just returned from Taiwan, where she served as Belize’s ambassador for five years. She is also a former PUP Belize City Councillor. While her selection was widely viewed as politically influenced, the Belize City Council released a statement on Tuesday dismissing that notion, saying: “This decision follows the recommendations of the interview committee, recognizing Dr. Pitts’ proven record of leadership and public service.”
Pitts replaces Albert Vaughn, who served as City Administrator for only 14 months.
