Moist and unstable conditions persist, excessive rainfall watch issued

Wet weekend ahead as Belize prepares for more showers and thunderstorms

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect another wet day today, Tuesday, September 23, as moist and unstable conditions continue to dominate the forecast.

The National Meteorological Service says skies will remain cloudy with sunny breaks, becoming cloudy at times tonight. Central and northern areas will see thunderstorms, showers, and rain this morning, decreasing in the afternoon before redeveloping in southern and coastal areas later tonight.

Winds will blow from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots, with sea conditions from light chop to choppy and waves of 2 to 5 feet.

Forecasted temperatures are 85°F on the coast, 92°F inland, and 78°F in the hills, with overnight lows of 78°F, 74°F, and 67°F respectively.

An excessive rainfall watch is in effect as an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected over central and northern parts of the country this morning. Residents in flood-prone areas are strongly advised to remain alert for possible flooding.

In the tropics, Hurricane Gabrielle remains far from Belize and poses no threat, while a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles has a medium chance of development in the next 48 hours.
